Thursdays en la Misión monthly poetry series: celebrating the Latinidad of the Latino Cultural District. This series focuses on the experiences of people of color in the Bay Area, featuring local poets chosen from the Mission’s deep literary culture. Each reading features an established poet and a newcomer. Naomi Quinoñez, an educator and cultural activist, author of three collections of poetry, and a founding member of the Los Angeles Barrio Writer’s Workshop. Ricardo Tavarez, a Bay Area educator, is the former director of the Pan Dulce Poets reading series in the Mission district. Ricardo’s writing is a reflection on cultural dynamics, music and memory.
