Quanto avevamo voluto essere su quella splendida nave per una vacanza speciale, coccolati da quel magnifico staff di bordo, c'era
l' amore nell'aria. Fantastico, non solo nell'aria, ma anche sul mare.
Ci sarebbbe piaciuto essere tutti come quei passeggeri che cercano notti romantiche a bordo di una bellissima nave in viaggio verso paesi tropicali o misteriosi, e decidono di trascorrere le loro vacanze a bordo della "Love Boat", dove Gopher (Fred Grandy), Dr. Bricker (Bernie Kopell), Isaac (Ted Lange), Julie (Lauren Tewes) e il Capitano Stubing (Gavin MacLeod) fanno del loro meglio per accontentarli e, a volte, aiutarli a innamorarsi.
Le cose non sono sempre così facili, ma alla fine l'amore vince e tutti lasciano la barca dei sogni soddisfatti.

In Italia la colonna sonora iniziale fu sostituita, solo dopo alcuni episodi, dalla canzone The Love Boat (Profumo di mare) cantata da Little Tony ridotta a due passaggi del solo ritornello. Divenne tanto famosa da far quasi dimenticare la altrettanto meritevole sigla originale
cantata da Jack Jones.

Love in the air. Fantastic not only in the air, but also on the sea.
We all would have liked to be like those passengers looking for romantic nights on boardof a beautiful ship traveling to tropical or mysterious countries, and decide to spend the their holidays aboard the "Love Boat", where Gopher (Fred Grandy), Dr. Bricker (Bernie Kopell), Isaac (Ted Lange), Julie (Lauren Tewes) and Captain Stubing (Gavin MacLeod) do their best to please them and, at times, help them fall in love.
Things aren't always that easy, but in the end love wins and everyone leaves the boatof fulfilled dreams.

In Italy the initial soundtrack was replaced, only after a few episodes, by the song The Love Boat (Profumo di mare) sung by Little Tony reduced to two passages of the chorus only.
It became so famous that the equally deserving original theme is almost forgotten sung by Jack Jones.
