So far on this show, we've shown you how to digitize a patch and how to digitize for 3D puff, but today we’re going to cover digitizing something a little bit more... personal. And what we mean by that is… realistic portrait embroidery!

Now, in an earlier episode of Embroidery Hub, we already showed you how to embroider portraits on our 8-inch panel on Ricoma’s SWD-1501 embroidery machine. In fact, in that episode, you didn’t have to digitize at all because the panel auto-digitized the portrait for you.

Today, we’re going show you how to digitize your own portrait using our Chroma Luxe digitizing software and a free app called ToonApp, which can easily be downloaded directly from the play store.

To get started, you’ll need a nice, clean file to work with. And since it’s much easier to digitize using vectorized files than a photograph or JPEG, we’re going to first use the ToonApp to auto-convert a selfie into a vectorized image.

You can also follow these steps to create photorealistic pet portraits to display in your home or office. First, convert your pet’s photo into vector art, then upload it to your digitizing software and follow along with this video.

In this episode, Willy will go over some of the commonly-used tools available on Chroma Luxe as he walks you through each step of digitizing your portrait.

But you’ll have to wait for the release of PART 2 for us to reveal the SHOCKINGLY REAL finished product.

Digitized files of photorealistic portraits, like the one in this video, can easily be embroidered onto a decorative pillow, tote bag, or keepsake to make personalized holiday gifts for your family and friends. The tips and tricks mentioned in this video are perfect for decorators looking to expand their custom apparel business or side hustle.

Be sure to check out PART 2 of this Embroidery HUB episode when it airs to learn more about the next step of embroidering your newly digitized portrait.

See you next time!
