The Garden | Rush | Full Band Cover | Clockwork Angels |

Описание к видео The Garden | Rush | Full Band Cover | Clockwork Angels |

‪@rush‬ is my favorite band, but it's hard to cover them because of Geddy Lee's inimitable vocals, Alex Lifeson's virtuosic playing, and Neil Peart's complex patterns. However, I realized that one of my most treasured Rush tunes, The Garden from Clockwork Angels, was not particularly difficult to play and presented a great opportunity to experiment with different tones and plugins.

The Gothik Serpent rendition of Rush's final song deviates from the original primarily by incorporating fewer strings and more electronic sounds and effects. Given the less acrobatic nature of this song compared to the likes of Caravan and BU2B, I also wanted to hear the song with a warmer bass sound, a task perfectly suited for my Zon bass.

It's a bit of a coincidence that I've released this video on my birthday, and on the same month that Neil passed away, but it's nonetheless poetic, given the song's lyrical content. As I was working on this cover, I was constantly struck by how the professor lived up to (and arguably exceeded) the lyrics of The Garden, as evidenced by how none of his family and friends said one word to the public of his cancer for three years. It's one thing to be an amazing drummer and lyricist, but to have the content of character that commands such love and respect from so many people is an exceedingly rare achievement. Hopefully I can get there one day.
