Old Mine in Fort Mountain State Park

While exploring in Georgia at Fort Mountain State Park I came across this old mine. I saw some interesting things here and really enjoyed the experience of this area. The wilderness is beautiful with many trails to roam but also a lot of history to learn about. Some of the history involves the mining industry, from what I learned so far they mined gold and talc in these mountains. I am not sure exactly what sort of operation went on here though. If you come across the history in the wilderness please be respectful and leave everything as you see it. Do not attempt to enter the caves as most are gated off anyway.
