Was That a Ghost We Captured in The Shanghai Tunnels? | Portland, OR

There's a network of tunnels beneath the city of Portland long-rumored to be haunted by sailors and prostitutes, including the famous benevolent ghost "Nina". We enjoyed an afternoon touring the dark, haunted tunnels. Along with a number of firsthand experiences and ghostly encounters, we also captured a few unexpected specters on our photos that we didn't notice until later. Known as the "Shanghai tunnels" because of the common practice of "crimping" - which is essentially kidnapping able-bodied men and selling them into being sailors (against their will) on ships sailing to Shanghai- the tunnels are said to be one of the most haunted places in Portland, OR. Regardless of ghosts, the history is a dark one filled with opium dens, prisons for kidnapped sailors, prostitution and murder.
