This Is The Way Podcast August 2024 Star Wars News Update

The Acolyte will not get a second season. It's not the kind of thing to rejoice about, except...actually, it is exactly the sort of thing the future Star Wars needed to happen. Common sense and good content don't matter as much as actual money to business people that bankroll television shows. As it so happens, giving Leslye Headland $180 million turns out to be exactly the kind of mistake critics had been saying since news started leaking about the direction the show would take Star Wars. It's not really that Lucasfilm WANTS to admit it. They just accept it. If only some fans would...
Yeah, that's right. Calling out the real toxic fans is now okay after having to deal with accusations of racism and misogyny and all the other distractions that liberal loonies love to lambast the (now very clear) majority. Most people didn't care for The Acolyte, because even a large minority of the fandom could have gotten the show renewed. It had to fail on an epic scale to get shelved. One can only hope this is the last podcast that needs to address the awful show, because it's next level terrible. It rivals The Last Jedi for non-consideration.
There IS good news, or at least hope. December will see the release of Skeleton Crew and then 2025 will bring us Andor's second (and final) season. Sure, The Mandalorian and Grogu movie is coming, but there isn't enough to talk about yet and the only other real big note from D23 in 2024 was some stuff about Hollywood Studios that might indirectly affect Star Wars in that park. K2-SO and Darth Maul for collectors and Outlaws for gamers makes August a pretty slow news month, but perhaps a palate cleanse is what's needed here.
