'Cissy Strut' - The Meters | James Croxton

Описание к видео 'Cissy Strut' - The Meters | James Croxton

Hi guys! I'm back again with another one of my session portfolio videos where I aim to authentically recreate recorded performances by artists who inspire me or give my take on their music. In this video I'm playing the 'Cissy Strut' by the rock solid Meters. In this one, I'm taking a stab at my own solo. This was a combination of improvisation and then honing in on that to take a well thought out solo.

'Cissy Strut' was a huge gateway for me into other genres of music outside of rock when I was doing my higher diploma at the ICMP in London. Getting to play this and improvise over it in our ensemble workshops really allowed me to hone in on my phrasing, feel, rhythmic placement and note selection. Being in a safe, nurturing space to take chances and figure things out, I must've failed hundreds of times before I was able to channel my inner voice as a musician and play something that vaguely resembled a tasteful solo. I have really fond memories of this song; it's just a great groove to jam over as well.

Drop a like if you enjoyed my playing and if you'd like to see more of this kind of music on the channel. Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss out on any new content and don't hesitate to follow me on my socials. It all goes a long way, there is an awful lot to come and I appreciate it massively.

I am available for session work and functions so please don't hesitate to get in touch.

As always, thank you for watching and thank you to any new viewers and subscribers - the exposure really helps!
