Down-tuning a short scale bass. Why? How does it sound? (eg. E flat standard and D standard)

In this video, we explore some of the reasons why you might want to considering down-tuning a bass. It also features playing examples of my Atelier Z short scale bass tuned down to E flat standard, D standard and C sharp standard.

The bass was recorded direct through a Line6 Pod Go with my GK800RB model settings.
No EQ or compression was added in post.
