Jess for great Goan fish & seafood, Nagoa-Verna, Goa, May 2023

Jess Family Restaurant (Tel: 7507398949) has simple and delicious Goan food, with very generous portions of fish, in Nagoa-Verna, Mormugao taluka, Goa. To get to Jess restaurant from the Margao side, on the Margao-Panjim highway, after Nagoa's Pirni Circle and the HP petrol pump on the right, keep a look out for the Teva and JCB factories on the left hand side of the road. If coming from the north Panjim-Zuari bridge side, you will have to take a u-turn at the Teva factory, after crossing the Verna Titan gate. Right after the JCB factory is the left turn. Once you take the left turn, the road itself curves left and then take the first right and coming up on the left hand side is a blue house. Jess restaurant is on the first floor.

We had arrived at Jess restaurant at 12.45 pm and at that time we were able to choose our table… but within 10 minutes of arriving, the place was packed. Not a single table was available Jess is a very popular place. Get here before 1 pm to be sure of a table, else you might have to wait.

There is no written menu, as such, at Jess. The fish curry of the day depends on the fresh catch available in the morning. We ordered modso thali - Rs 200, xinaneo (mussels) - Rs 500, tisreo (cockles) - Rs 200, kulleo (crabs) - Rs 400, and leppo (sole fish) - Rs 70. Three of us paid approx Rs 1,500 for all this,with extra rice. The fish and seafood servings are very large. Definitely a place for fish lovers to visit again and again.

Tip: You can eat here if you have a late afternoon flight from Dabolim airport
