For the best traditional Goan desserts and scrumptious savoury treats, locals swear by Mr. Baker, a 100-year-old institution that remains steadfast to its culinary roots. I met with third generation owner, Nenette Fernandes, over a leisurely tasting of bebinca, battica, risoi, croquettes, the sort of baked wares that even her grandfather, Mr. Pedro Vincent Vaz who founded the bakery, would recognise if he were around today. I also discovered a delicious surprise in the Niro, a refreshing cashew juice that took me back to memories from my childhood. Hope you enjoy this short and mostly sweet episode.
