OKRA - Scientific name : Abelmoschus esculentus

Okra gel contains a high level of carbohydrates, proteins and minerals. More specifically, the mucilaginous substances are acidic polysaccharides associated with proteins and minerals. It was proven to have anticancer, antimicrobial, hypoglycemic and anti-ulcer activities. Okra gel can therefore be used as a medicine. It also has great benefits for the hair and skin !

FLAX - Scientific name : Linum usitatissimum

Flaxseed gel is without a doubt a very good natural detangler. The mucilage of flaxseed gel is due to water-soluble polysaccharides.
Flaxseed contains up to 10% of mucilage.
The seed itself also contains polyunsaturated fatty acids, essential amino acids, vitamin E, lignans and dietary fibers. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-cancer activities.
There are two varieties of flaxseeds : brown and yellow.

Can I make flaxseed gel from ground flaxseeds or flax meal?

You can make flaxseed gel from ground flaxseed and flax meal. However, the quality of your gel will be reduced because of the extraction of other substances such as individual proteins. It is better to make flaxseed gel from whole seeds in distilled water at pH 7.
