Nilima Sen is one legendary Rabindra Sangeet artist who is most popular for her melodious voice. Rabindra Sangeet or Tagore Songs has been the biggest pillar for the quintessential Bengali culture. Rabindranath Tagore is an inseparable part of the entire Bengali Diaspora all over the world.

Rabindranath Tagore the great poet laureate wrote and composed innumerable songs in the vast gamut of literary works, which he produced in his long and prolific career. He almost single-handedly changed the way Bengali Songs were viewed at and created his own brand of music which later on came to be known as Rabindra Sangeet.

Nilima Sen was born as Nilima Gupta in Kolkata, India on April 28, 1928. Her parents moved to Santiniketan when she was six. She had her education there and completed diploma course in Classical Music & Rabindra Sangeet from Santiniketan.She also did her B.A from the Visva-Bharati University at Santiniketan. She had the privilege of acting under the direction of Rabindranath Tagore but that was not staged. She sang in the presence of Gandhiji, Subhash Bose etc. during their visit to Santiniketan. Her Guru was mainly Shri Sailajaranjan Mazumder. Nilima Sen became a famous registered artist with the All India Radio in the 50s. She founded the music school "Surangama" along with Prasad Sen and later joined Sangeet Bhavan as a Faculty. For a couple of years, she taught music at Bardhhaman University. She became the Principal of Sangeet Bhavan & retired from there. As a Faculty, she took part in various dance dramas like Tasher Desh, Mayar Khela (along with Suchitra Mitra), Sesh Raksha (along with Supriyo Tagore) organised by Vishwa Bharati & staged at auditoriums like Rabindra Sadan, New Empire in Kolkata. Songs like "Chokher jaler laglo joar", "Aha tomar sange", "Bajao re mohan banshi" found correct expression through the embedded sadness in her voice.

This album "Aaj Jemon Korey Gaaichhey Aakaas" is a collection of Tagore Songs sung by the melodious Nilima Sen. This compilation has some of the greatest hits of Tagore like Aaj Jemon Korey and Naa Chaahiley Jaarey. This is a classic Rabindra Sangeet compilation that is quintessentially dripped in the Tagore nostalgia.
