Secrecy Around Taliban Chief: Where Is Taliban’s Supreme Leader Hibatullah Akhundzada?

Weeks after taking over Afghanistan, a wide range of Taliban figures have entered Kabul back from the years of exile. Several hardened commandos, armed madrassa students and greying leaders have returned, except for the Taliban’s supreme leader - Akhundzada. Hibatullah Akhundzada has been the Taliban chief since 2016 after his predecessor Mullah Akhtar Mansour was assassinated by the US. The Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has said that the world will soon see its supreme leader.
