ABOUT THE BOOK

“A Steeping of Blood” by Hafsah Faizal is a YA historical paranormal fantasy involving vampires. It is the second book of the "Blood and Tea" duology.

After the deadly events of the first book, Arthie and her crew are more determined than ever to take down the head of the government. Although the group faces their grief and shame through travel, torture, loss, and revealed secrets, they also strengthen romantic and familial bonds that could last eternity. The lovely mysterious elements of the first book combine with a faster pace to end this duology with a bang.

Representation notes: As with the first book, the main characters are POC. One of the main characters is an immigrant who had to figure out a new life in a colonizing country; she also figured out how to find the balance between her current location and the culture she carried from her ancestry. There are various levels of socioeconomic status represented, including someone who was born into aristocracy but quickly became poor.
