Hello dear friends,
I hope you are all doing well.
There’s very little on-screen text in this video,
so I’ve written this message like a little letter to you instead.
(But I ended up writing a very long post...)
There were just too many things I wanted to share, and I couldn’t fit them all into the video… 🙇♀️
I hope you enjoy this moment where the quiet rhythm of everyday life softly blends with memories of travel, creating a gentle sense of the extraordinary within the ordinary.

In June, my family and I took a trip to London and Sicily.
Although the video shows Sicily first and then London due to editing, our actual route was London → Sicily.
These days, flights between Japan and Europe take a northern route over the Arctic. The journey now takes nearly 15 hours, about 2–3 hours longer than before. But this new route offers incredible views of the Arctic landscape—something we couldn’t see in the past.
In autumn and winter, when flights often happen at night, there’s even a chance to see the aurora from the plane window. So yes, the flight is longer—but it comes with new joys.
From London, we flew to Sicily via a transfer in Frankfurt, Germany.
Unfortunately, when we arrived in Sicily, my husband and son’s luggage didn’t show up… 😭
My son’s suitcase arrived at the hotel two days later, but my husband’s didn’t return until we picked it up at the airport on our way back home… 😭
We stayed in a town called Taormina, a beautiful seaside spot facing Mt. Etna, an active volcano.
The color of the sea there is simply breathtaking… ✨
It’s also known as a filming location for the 1980s movie The Big Blue (Le Grand Bleu).
We took a small boat out and swam in the deep blue waters — it was a moving experience.
The clarity of the sea and the way the light filters through to the ocean floor was stunning, like beams of light from heaven. (I wish I had brought an underwater camera!)
I hope this video captures at least a little of the beauty of that sea and town 😊
We didn’t have much time in London, so we didn’t do much sightseeing, but we did visit the Queen Mary’s Rose Gardens in Regent’s Park.
The roses were in full bloom and absolutely beautiful!
It made me imagine Anthony from Candy Candy standing there — I wonder if anyone else remembers that scene? 😆 (Candy Candy is an old Japanese manga.)
Back home, I enjoyed a quiet teatime alone, sipping tea I bought in London just because the tin was pretty, and eating a homemade apricot clafoutis, now in season.
By the way, the tea tin said “40 tea bags,” so I assumed they’d be individually wrapped with strings, like most are.
But when I opened it—surprise!—they were loose, like tiny mugicha (barley tea) bags! It gave me a quiet shock 😳
Clafoutis is a very easy baked dessert—you just mix and bake!
This time I used apricots, but it’s commonly made with cherries. You can use all kinds of fruit.
It’s delicious both warm and chilled. You’ll find the recipe below.
Thank you so much for spending time with me.
Wishing you a peaceful and gentle day.
Until next time,
Risu Morino 🐿️
🌸 Apricot Clafoutis Recipe
(You’ll also see some blueberries in the video, but they’re optional—I just happened to have them.)
🔹Ingredients (for a 1-liter baking dish):
• About 350g apricots (I used 4.5 fruits)
• 2 eggs
• 50g sugar
• 60g flour
• 200ml milk
• 100ml heavy cream
• 1 tbsp rum
• Butter (for greasing the dish)
🔹Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
2. Grease the baking dish with butter.
3. Wash and dry the apricots well, remove the stems, and cut them in half.
4. Arrange the apricots in the baking dish.
5. In a bowl, crack the eggs and mix with the sugar.
6. Add flour to the mixture and stir well.
7. Add milk, then cream, then rum, mixing thoroughly after each.
8. Pour the mixture over the apricots.
9. Bake at 180°C for 30–40 minutes, adjusting the time depending on your dish size and material.
When the center no longer jiggles, it’s done.
Enjoy it warm or chilled — both are delicious!
