The Bio Dude helps Armand Bayou create BioActive Habitats in their Education Center

We recently had the honor of helping Armand Bayou Nature Center become BioActive in their Education Center. “Armand Bayou was founded in 1974 as a result of efforts begun by an environmental visionary, Armand Yramategui. Armand foresaw the urban growth around Armand Bayou and strove to have this land remain a wilderness. Armand’s tragic death in 1970 inspired a local, regional and national coalition of people and organizations to acquire the 2500 acres of land now preserved as ABNC. ABNC is a non-profit organization that was established with the mission preservation and environmental education.” My wife and I love visiting ABNC and it’s great that it’s only a short drive from our house. It is the perfect opportunity for bird watching, hiking, walking, and herping!

In this video we created BioActive habitats for Buttercup the Speckled Kingsnake, Rusty the Western Rat Snake, Cletus the Southern Copperhead, Cordelia the Western Cotton Mouth, Toadin the Gulf Coast Toad, some adorable Green and Gray Treefrogs, as well as a Wolf Spider, and some local Anoles. Wait until you see Cordelia, she is definitely a Chonky and BEAUTIFUL Western Cotton Mouth. We had a lot of fun partnering with Kristen throughout the day and learning about all the Native Species in our area. The Education Center is full of information on different wildlife you may encounter, and it is very clear that they love sharing their knowledge on various animals and plant life.

We can’t thank ABNC enough for having us and allowing us to create these gorgeous habitats for these animals. We can’t wait to come back and see how they thrive in their new homes.Make sure to watch until the end where you’ll get an opportunity to meet Burt and Sally, ABNC’s resident American Bison! They are amazing, and you can visit them too when you go visit!
Huge thank you to Kristen and everyone at Armand Bayou Nature Center. You guys are amazing, and we love everything you’re doing to educate your guests, and what you are doing to conserve this beautiful area. Thanks for watching!
