Friendship Sloops hold a special place in maritime history, originating as lobster boats and workboats in the late 1800s before transitioning into beloved coastal cruisers for recreational use. With their distinctive clipper bows and classic gaff rigs, they're a true sight to behold along the Maine coast and beyond.

This particular sloop, designed by Eldredge-McInnis and built in 1978 by J Phillips Ham in Connecticut, boasts a fascinating backstory. Once owned by former Senator Chris Dodd, who enjoyed sailing her with his friend Ted Kennedy, she later found herself in Boothbay Harbor, ME, serving as a tourist day-tripper. And in a weird Six Degrees of Canadian Ken, we discovered that he is related to one of the previous owners...

Now, after 15 years in the care of her current owner, she's seeking a new home. While she's been resting in the barn for the past 5 years, everything, including the 25hp Westerbeke engine, was in perfect working order the last time she sailed.
