আমরা দু-জনে ৫ | সলিল চৌধুরী ও তাঁর প্রথমা স্ত্রী,চিত্রশিল্পী জ্যোতি চৌধুরীর কথা থাকছে এবার। ছাত্র বয়সে কৃষক আন্দোলনে জড়িত সলিল চৌধুরী তারপর ভারতীয় কমিউনিস্ট পার্টি এবং তাদের সাংস্কৃতিক শাখা আইপিটিএ-তে যোগ দেন। সলিল চৌধুরীর মামাবাড়ি কোদালিয়া গ্রামে পরিচয় হয়েছিল জ্যোতিদেবীর সঙ্গে। সে সময় প্রায় শূন্য থেকে শুরু করা সলিলকে জামাই হিসেবে মেনে নিতে পারেনি জ্যোতির পরিবার। কিন্তু সে সবের তোয়াক্কা না করেই গত শতকের পাঁচের দশকের গোড়ায় জ্যোতি বিয়ে করেছিলেন সলিল চৌধুরীকে। এরপর দু’জনে পাড়ি দিয়েছিলেন সেকালের বম্বে, আজকের মুম্বইয়ে। মুম্বইয়ে একটু একটু করে নিজের পায়ের নীচে জমি শক্ত করেছেন সুরকার সলিল। দাঁতে দাঁত চেপে সেই সংগ্রামে পাশে ছিলেন স্ত্রী জ্যোতি। স্বামীর যখন উপার্জন বলিষ্ঠ নয়, তখন সংসারের হাল ধরেছিলেন অঙ্কনশিল্পী জ্যোতি। অংশ নিয়েছেন বহু প্রদর্শনীতে। পরে জ্যোতির সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক ছিন্ন করে বিশিষ্ট সংগীত শিল্পী সবিতা চৌধুরীকে বিয়ে করেছিলেন সলিল। এত বড় ধাক্কা সহ্য করেও শক্ত থেকেছেন জ্যোতি। জীবনে অনেক ঝড়ঝাপটা এসেছে। তবু হার মানেননি। ছয়ের দশকে সিঙ্গল মাদার হিসেবে তাঁদের তিন মেয়ে অলকা, তুলিকা এবং লিপিকাকে মানুষ করেছিলেন। সংসার সাজিয়ে নিয়েছিলেন নিজের মতো করে। লব্ধপ্রতিষ্ঠ সলিলের সঙ্গে সংসারযাপন হয়নি জ্যোতি চৌধুরীর। তবে এই নিয়ে কখনও প্রকাশ্যে কোনও তিক্ততা প্রকাশও করেননি। মর্যাদা দিয়েছেন ব্যক্তিগত পরিসরকে। অবশেষে সলিল প্রয়াণের ২৭ বছর পর, গত বছর চলে গেলেন তাঁর প্রথম স্ত্রী বান্দ্রায় নিজের বাড়িতেই।

Salil Chowdhury, who was involved in the peasant movement as a student, later joined the Communist Party of India and its cultural wing IPTA. Salil Chowdhury's maternal uncle's house was at the Kodalia. There he first met Jyoti Devi. Jyoti's family could not accept Salil as a son-in-law who started almost from scratch at that time. But without caring about all that, Jyoti married Salil Chowdhury in the early 1950s. After that, both of them moved to then Bombay, today's Mumbai. Composer Salil has solidified the ground under his feet bit by bit in Mumbai. His wife Jyoti was by his side in that struggle. When the husband's income was not strong, Jyoti, the artist, took charge of the family. Participated in many exhibitions. Salil later broke up with Jyoti and married renowned music artist Sabita Chowdhury. Jyoti has remained strong despite such a big shock. Many storms have come in her life. Still did not give up. In the 1960s, She raised their three daughters Alka, Tulika and Lipika as a single mother. He arranged the family in her own way. Jyoti Chowdhury did not live with Salil who was very successful. But she never openly expressed any bitterness about this. She respected personal space. Finally, 27 years after Salil's death, his first wife passed away last year at her home in Bandra.
