ABOUT THIS PLACE:
Chungking Mansions is a building located on Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. It has five blocks, each 17 storeys. Designed mainly for residential use, it has over the years become a hub for hostels. The ground and first levels are retail shops. The building was a key location in the film, 'Chungking Express' (1994), directed by Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai.

WHY I WAS HERE:
I have been fascinated by the movie 'Chungking Express' since watching it some 30 years ago, and have had stayed in a hostel in this building before. This time, I wanted to get this building on film. In this first of two parts, we visit the retail and residential portions from street level upwards. The next video will focus on its basement. Watch this space!
