Noise : A Flaw in Human Judgment | Daniel Kahneman, Olivier Sibony, Cass R Sunstein in conversation with Mihir S Sharma

Wherever there is judgement, there is noise. Yet, most of the time, individuals and organisations are overtly unaware of it and neglect noise. But with a few simple remedies, people can reduce both noise and bias to make far better decisions. Nobel laureate Daniel Kahneman joins professor Olivier Sibony and legal scholar Cass R Sunstein in explaining how and why humans are so susceptible to noise in judgement and what we can do about it.

Daniel Kahneman is the Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology, Princeton University, Professor of Public Affairs, the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, and the winner of the 2002 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences and the National Medal of Freedom in 2013. Kahneman is the recipient of various other prestigious awards including, the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award, the Warren Medal of the Society of Experimental Psychologists, and the Award for Lifetime Contributions to Psychology, among others. He is the author of the New York Times bestseller Thinking, Fast and Slow.

Olivier Sibony is an Education Track Professor at HEC Paris and Associate Fellow of Oxford University’s Saïd Business School. He has written four books, including the New York Times best-seller, Noise: A Flaw in Human Judgment and You’re About to Make a Terrible Mistake.

Cass R Sunstein is the Robert Walmsley University Professor at Harvard, where he is the founder and director of the Program on Behavioral Economics and Public Policy. From 2013 to 2014, he served on President Obama’s Review Group on Intelligence and Communications Technologies. Winner of the 2018 Holberg Prize from the government of Norway, Sunstein is the author of many articles and books, including two New York Times bestsellers, The World According to Star Wars and Nudge. His other books include How Change Happens and Too Much Information.

Mihir S Sharma is Director and Senior Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation in New Delhi. In 2019 he co-edited What the Economy Needs Now with Abhijit Banerjee, Gita Gopinath and Raghuram Rajan. He is also a columnist for Bloomberg in New York and an Aspen Fellow.
