Part 5: Converging Chronicles: Spain's Islamic Heritage

Описание к видео Part 5: Converging Chronicles: Spain's Islamic Heritage

As we reach the culmination of our series, we recap the previous videos and summarize the people and empires that ruled the Iberian Peninsula, known as Spain and Portugal today. From the earliest inhabitants to Roman Hispania and then the Visigoths, we discuss how the Islamic Spain, known as al-Andalus, is an integral part of Spain's heritage that lasted 8 centuries.

We explore how Muslims play a part in shaping Spain's history and dispel the myth that the Muslims were simply Moorish (Arab and Berber) invaders that ruled over a majority Christian European population only to be expelled after 8 centuries. We argue that the Andalusian Muslims were descendants of Visigoths, Hispano-Romans, and the people's that inhabited the Iberian peninsula.
