The Buckinghamshire Railway Centre launches passenger services from Platform 1 at the original Quainton Road station, with the museum having acquired a lease from Network Rail to connect with and run services on a half-mile section of the former Metropolitan and Great Central line. This route has recently been severed, having previously been used as a freight only line, as a result of the ongoing construction of HS2 and the infilling of a bridge immediately north of Quainton Road station.

Performing the honors of reopening the platform was GWR 5600 Class 6695, visiting the centre from the Swindon and Cricklade Railway. Historian and Broadcaster Tim Dunn was also on hand to say a few words and cut the ribbon ahead of the first service. The event additionally coincided with the annual Auto Fest event, which saw a number of classic vehicles on display around the site, as well as live music and entertainment. Running alongside 6695 was the Railway Centre's own Hunslet Austerity Tank NCB No.66, which performed frequent parallel runs with the GWR tank engine along one of the sites demonstration lines.
