The opening number from a brand new work of musical theatre, "Eight Immortals: A Song Cycle". The piece draws inspiration from the "ba xian" (Eight Immortals) of Chinese legend to tell the stories of eight modern individuals all on their own journeys of self-transformation and transcendence.

So you want to find the portal to a higher plane?
So you want to live forever?
So you want to taste the wine?
So you think that you’re prepared to leave all earthly cares behind?
So you long to join the very few
who are ever born anew?
