If you like to play a lot of slides, this is the song to do so! The main bassgroove of this song is in the Verse, where Leon Wilkeson repeats the groove to give a solid ground to the song. The basslick in the Interlude (bar 17-20) is really very nice to play! The slide on beats 3 and 4 of bar 17 and 19 are a challenge to play. The ‘secret’ of this lick is that before you slide from E to G (on the A-string) you first play an open note on the A-string. This gives you the opportunity to move your left hand to the E note and than slide to the G note (on the A-string). After the G note there’s a short (staccato) C note on the D-string, and than you slide down from the G note on the A -string.

There’s a very fast 16th lick in bar 28. The ‘secret’ here is to use hammer on and pull off notes.

Another nice detail is in the Chorus. Leon Wilkeson uses his slides here very tasteful in my opinion. When you look at the lick in bar 29 than he first plays a short (staccato) D note. On the second D note there’s a slide. But he doesn’t play this slide immediately but he waits a bit and than slides towards the C note. He does the same in bar 30 where he slides from C towards the D note which is the first note of the next bar.

It’s a famous song with a recognizable bassline in the Verse and lots of challenges in the Verse and Chorus. Fun to play!
