A radical overhaul of police vetting and recruitment is needed to prevent another killer police officer from operating in plain sight. That is the stark warning made to police chiefs and the government following an inquiry into Sarah Everard's murder. The report found that her killer Wayne Couzens should have never been allowed to serve as a police officer and that red flags were repeatedly ignored.

Women's safety campaigner, Mina Smallman says that police officers who received messages from Sarah Everard's killer Wayne Couzens are 'complicit' in their silence.
