Back in the day, most family trips were rarely farther than 200 miles from home. Flying to Vail or Aspen, Colorado was unheard of; in fact, Vail wasn't a town until 1966.

Sometime in 1965, 71-year-old Will McCluney & his 81-year-old sister, Blanche, decided to take a trip across Arkansas to see the dam at Bull Shoals, Arkansas.

President Harry S. Truman spoke at the dedication in 1952. At that time, it was the 5th largest dam in America. Of course, along the way, they hit a few tourist traps.

Fourteen-year-old Gene McCluney documented the trip for the ages with his 8mm camera.
