Midtown Carmel | Connecting a Walkable Urban Community

Описание к видео Midtown Carmel | Connecting a Walkable Urban Community

Carmel is growing! We have nearly 100,000 residents, and our business sector is booming. But we are also committed to keeping our small town charm. Creating a walkable urban community is a priority. Jeff Speck, Urban Designer and Author, is here to talk about our efforts to engage people in Midtown, Downtown, and City Center while increasing opportunities to walk (and shop, dine, work, etc.) between these vibrant mixed-use spaces.

Justin Moffett of the Old Town Design Group also discusses opportunities in Midtown: a section of the Monon Trail being transformed from a former industrial area into an exciting space that emphasizes walkability and community.

Safety, practicality, usability, walkability, sustainability, and community are essential. Learn how Carmel is balancing these priorities to create wonderful experiences for residents and visitors.

**This video was pre-recorded. The Monon Greenway and Midtown areas are currently closed to the public due to COVID-19. Please enjoy this video and learn more about why and how Midtown was built. We look forward to spending some time there - and see all our neighbors! - when the Stay at Home policy is listed. Stay safe and healthy - and do what Carmel residents do best: look after each other. For now, this means staying home. We can't wait to see you out and about! 04/02/2020
