Rabindranath Tagore Biography and Life Story: Rabindranath Tagore was born on 07 May 1861 in Calcutta, India. His father, Debendranath Tagore, was a rich statesman of Bengal. Rabindranath got his early education at home only. But the curious and creative nature of child Rabindranath did not like to be bound within four walls.

At the age of 6, Rabindranath Tagore wrote his first poem and by the age of 16, he published is first poetry collection. In 1878, Rabindranath went to University College of London to study law. But he left the college too and started an independent study of Shakespeare's plays.

After getting married 1883 to Mrinalini, Rabindranath continued writing plays, poems, and songs. Rabindranath Tagore's Bengali songs were very popular at that time.

In 1910, Rabindranath Tagore published a collection of 157 poems called Geetanjali. It was his breakthrough work and Rabindranath became the first Indian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Also, short stories of Rabindranath Tagore are considered to be masterpieces of that time.

Rabindranath Tagore was an artist too and painted often. He also joined the Indian Freedom Movement with Mahatma Gandhi. Rabindranath Tagore's songs are adopted as the National Anthems of India and Bangladesh.

He died on 7 August 1941 in Kolkata after suffering severe illness and pain during last 4 years of his life.
