I Try A Hill Sprints Running Workout

Описание к видео I Try A Hill Sprints Running Workout

With my first ever ultra-marathon fast approaching, I decided it was time to start adding hill sprints to my training regime.

What are hill sprints? As the name suggests, hill sprints are intense flat out runs up steep inclines with the aim of conditioning your body. The idea is that, after a while of your body getting used to difficult hill sprints, you will eventually find running on normal flat surfaces easier and easier. The result? You (hopefully) blitz your old running self and your performance drastically improves.

In my almost five years of running, I can't believe that I've never actually done one hill sprints workout. It's even quite embarrassing to admit it. But, people and their habits can change as I try to demonstrate with this effort.

To finally give hill sprints a try, I ventured to the scenic North Downs in Kent, and identified three of the steepest hills I could find. I then decided to run flat out up each of them one after the other to get my first taste of hill sprints.

In this video, I capture my first ever hill sprints running workout and share some reflections along the way. I hope you enjoy seeing me feel the burn!

Do you do hill sprints? If so, what are your top tips for getting the most out of this gruelling workout method? Let me know in the comment section.
