Lake District Walks: Cathedral Cave

Come with us as we explore Cathedral Caves in the Lake District.
We’d not long finished a walk around Elterwater (click here to watch the video) and thought we’d make the most of the daylight by exploring Cathedral Cave. This is in my opinion of the most spectacular caves in the lake district and we were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves!

We parked in Tilberthwait car park and followed the path pretty much straight down until we reached the entrance of the cave. There are different entrances which provide alternative viewing points. You can go through the tunnel and stand in the case of the cave or head around the side to a rocky entrance and view the cave from above. If you’re feeling really brave you can scramble up and stand ontop of the cave and enjoy the surrounding panoramic views over little Lansdale (weather permitting of course).
