Solo Backpacking the High Country Pathway - Day 1

I embarked on an 80 mile backpacking trip following the High Country Pathway in Pigeon River Country State Forest in northern Michigan. This is Day 1 of 4. I started at the Pigeon Bridge State Forest Campground and hiked 10.7 miles north and dispersed camped about 1.5 miles south of Pine Grove State Forest Campground. I did hike a few miles in the dark after a potential bear encounter (which of course was not captured on video)... This State Forest is home to the largest herd of elk east of the Mississippi River. It is a very wild part of the state and very untouched. Truly a gem. A massive thank you to all of the trail volunteers and supporters that make this possible for us. Thank you for watching!
