FINDING YOUR RESEARCH TOPIC

If you are studying any program within the humanities, you know that the possibilities are just so many when it comes to finding a specific topic or field you want to research for any given assignment.

Personally, I did my Master’s in Experience Economy and just finding the overall subject for my thesis took me about 4 months so I wish I had been conscious of what I’m gonna share with you guys today, because that’s a long a** time to not know what you’re doing.

Looking back at my own experience, I have found what has worked and what throws me off course.

In this whole process of figuring out a topic for your social sciences assignment, it is important to keep in mind that it is not a straight forward process that we can just do step-by-step. Rather it is an iterative process where you will switch between expanding the pool of options and narrowing it down.

Whether you are looking for how to do qualitative analysis as well as research methods like semi-structured interviews and participant observation or you are here to get insights about user experience and social phenomena, I hope you find value in the videos. I am always open to new ideas and would love to hear from you - whether that be feedback or questions, I can help you with.

👩🏻‍🎓 I have a Bachelor degree in Anthropology and a Master degree in Experience Economy - both from Aarhus University, Denmark. I’m absolutely in love with the social sciences and humanities! I’m especially curious about how meanings are continuously created through our interactions with the world and how designs (services, products, processes) influence how we relate to ourselves and each other.
