About Prof. Genevieve
Genevieve Bell is a cultural anthropologist, technologist and futurist best known for her work at the intersection of cultural practice and technology development.

After completing her PhD in cultural anthropology at Stanford University in 1998, she spent 18 years in Silicon Valley helping guide Intel’s product development by developing the company’s social science and design research capabilities.

As Director of the School of Cybernetics at The Australian National University, Genevieve is interested in telling hopeful stories about futures that are actively built in the present and informed by the past. #NewCybernetics builds on the original ideas of cybernetics, where the steering of technological objects is driven by the influence of humans and the ecological environment.
