Learning to balance on one leg is important in building a balanced posture. In addition holding the pose for over a minute is great for overall physical strength.

There are 3 ways to practice the asana.
a) Independent

b) back to the wall
c) near the wall

Vrksasana is easier on the leg that we normally carry our weight and difficult on the leg that you put less weight on.
