You may have seen a hot melt bead being applied, but did you know you can spray a hot melt adhesive? Tec 6300 and Tec 7300 glue guns spray a range of hot melt adhesives for bonding various substrates like polystyrene, foam, timber, plasterboard or light gauge metals, bonding heat sensitive substrates or bonding large areas with an open time of up to 6 minutes.

Now you have probably all seen a hot melt bead of adhesive but did you know you can spray a hot melt adhesive? To be more precise, swirl a hot melt adhesive?

Today I want to show you the Tec 6300 & Tec 7300 glue guns designed for spraying specially designed hot melt adhesives for covering large areas or bonding heat sensitive materials like polystyrene.

Here we have the powerful 500 watt Tec 6300 and the awesome 1000 watt Tec 7300 glue gun with a speedloader, which holds an extra 3 slugs of adhesive to speed up loading.

Both glue guns are pneumatic (requiring compressed air) and are effortless to use.

OK, let's get started.

1) Plug the glue gun into the mains
2) Insert a glue slug
3) Fix the base stand
4) Connect to your compressor
5) Set to 6 bar -- Max 7 bar
6) Allow the glue gun to reach operational temperature -- 5-7 minutes

Here we have an optional spring balancer to take the weight out of the tool or a bench stand to rest the tool while not in use.

NEVER lie the tool on its side!

Worth also mentioning at this point that both glue guns can be supplied in an extension model whereby the cordset is either 6m or 12m for when you have to take the glue to the job in hand! The tool comes as standard with a 2m cordset. Right, what can we "glue" for you?

Tecbond semi-pressure sensitive hot melt adhesives are designed for bonding a range of materials, for example: foam, polystyrene, GRP, timber, plastics, insulation & filter materials to name a few.

Tecbond spray hot melt adhesives are based on polyolefin resins and offer an open time of between 3 and 6 minutes, but once compression has been applied to bond is made.

Here we have Tecbond 430-43 hot melt adhesive, with an open time of 6 minutes. Gun has reached operational temperature and is ready to spray. Depress the trigger and the molten glue is swirled out of the nozzle.

We can adjust the pattern by simply turning this screw.

The pattern can be turned down to a bead, back to a swirl to a spatter. By reducing the bar pressure to 5 or even 4 you can control the flow of adhesive being applied. There is a range of optional nozzles offering a narrow to wide spray pattern. All new tools are fitted with the medium 2mm orifice nozzle which is what we are using now.

Let's spray and bond this piece foam to plywood

Applied the glue to the plywood, remember you have up to 6 minute open time. You can cover the entire area and as we are doing cover the edges and then corner to corner.
Standard hot melt bead applied glue will have started to set by now!

Bring the piece of foam and place over the board, you can still re-position at this stage
But when compression is applied the bond is made.

Sprayable hot melt adhesives are rapidly replacing water or solvent based adhesives, Instant bond, 100% solids, no solvents, simple and clean to use.
