Sitting in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, the Azores Islands – also dubbed the "Hawaii of Europe" receive a lot of swell from the low pressure areas traveling east. This beautiful islands are not yet on the map of most traveling surfers, hence you can still find uncrowded beaches to explore and empty lineups to surf. From our base in Ribeira Grande, with it's beautiful Santa Barbara beach, we traveled around the island to find the best waves and soak in the beauty of the nature. Lush green forests and volcanic hot springs helped recover from the exhausting sessions. Witnessing the Azores Pro and the infamous jetski crash was the highlight of the trip.
