How To Clean Silver Jewellery with Toothpaste | el-jo studio

Easiest way to clean your tarnished silver jewellery using toothpaste. This method is suitable for badly tarnished silver.

If you have noticed that your 925 Silver jewellery changes colour over time (straw yellow, red brown, purple, blue, and black), you are experiencing silver tarnishing (it is not rust, don't worry!). It’s a natural phenomenon that all silver tarnishes when contact with air and it’s actually really easy to remove!

📝 Things you'll need:
Toothpaste
Cotton Bud
Water
Tissue / Towel
A tarnished silver jewellery

💡 How to:
1. Apply a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on the cotton bud.
2. Gently rub the toothpaste onto the tarnished jewellery.
3. The cotton bud may turn dark and that means the tarnish is coming off the jewellery.
4. Rinse or dip your jewellery and rub the toothpaste residue off with water (remember to plug your sink if you rinse your jewellery under running water).
5. Pat the jewellery dry completely.
6. For extra shine, you can gently wipe it with a silver polishing cloth.

⋄ Wear Daily - The more you wear it, the more it will shine because friction will slow down tanishing. So don’t be afraid to wear your silver!
