Geographic Thinking and GIS for Global Health | Lunch and Learn

Описание к видео Geographic Thinking and GIS for Global Health | Lunch and Learn

The USC Institute on Inequalities in Global Health Student Advisory Council hosted a Lunch and Learn event with Avery R. Everhart, a PhD candidate in Population, Health, & Place within Spatial Sciences Institute. The training and discussion provided an introduction to geographic thinking and GIS science with an emphasis on its use in global health.

For global public health, we often need to draw upon data and empirical research even when we foreground an analysis of cultural attitudes toward health and well-being. Geographic thinking and GIS can, at their best, bridge cultural and empirical analyses of health inequalities around the world. Through this workshop, attendees will be introduced to space- versus place-based thinking, what GIS is and how it is used, and the basics of cartography and geovisualization.
