Welcome to a Rome Total War Difficulty Guide, which takes a look at the difficulties Easy, Medium, Hard and Very Hard and sees how it effects the game, and which you should choose.

The Difficulty tiers alter the strength of the AI in battle, their strength on the campaign map, and their playstyle.

Of course, some of this is very difficult to test, and so most of my research comes from online sources.
There may be stuff that I missed, but this here is all the important information.
