A Case Study for Afforestation | One Tree Planted

Описание к видео A Case Study for Afforestation | One Tree Planted

One Tree Planted has partnered with the Icelandic Forest Service to bring trees back to Iceland after hundreds of years without forests, a process otherwise known as Afforestation.

Afforestation projects rely on human intervention for growth due to little natural regeneration of native species. When people first arrived in Iceland, they deforested much of the land to make room for agriculture and pastures. Because of this, Iceland, unfortunately, endured a long history with no forests. Despite challenges like frost heaving, intense wind exposure, and poor soil quality, the benefits are significant. The trees in this region will sequester carbon, enrich the land with nutrients, and provide jobs for the local community while creating habitats for various species.

Through this unique afforestation project, we're dedicated to restoring the landscape by reintroducing the native Downy Birch and other research-backed tree species. Amidst climate change, afforestation plays a crucial role in restoring degraded land, making it more productive and resilient.

Join us we reforest and afforest landscapes across the globe.
