I think it's interesting how it is always Sam who tries to talk sense into his brother and it's usually Dean who tries to deal with things on his own. Sam needs to vocalies his worries while Dean needs someone who can get him to talk and confess - it shows that they couldn't make it without each other. They need each other to stay sane, to get through life without breaking apart completely.
No wonder they take such enormous steps in order to ensure each other's safety... their relationship truly is admiring and because of that it hurts even more seeing them falling apart in the current season - though I love the twist and I can't wait for them to be real brothers again (and that's me hoping they'll eventually find back to being just that).
