Barnstaple Model Railway Exhibition - 27th July 2024

The Barnstaple Model Railway Exhibition was held by the Barnstaple District Model Railway Club at Christ Church in Barnstaple, Devon on the 27th July 2024. A great show filled with plenty of layouts as well as various traders.

The layouts featured in the videos are as follows:
1) Fareford Depot (4mm/OO) - A currently unfinished layout which is controlled by DCC - showcases trains from the 1980s to present day.

2) East Lyn Quay (4mm/OO) - Set in Norfolk many of the buildings are based on those in Kings Lynn.

3) Bridgerule (2mm/N) - features a fictitious station

4) Sampsons Wharf (4mm/OO) - Based somewhere in the south west in the late 50s/early 60s

5) Thiswaye (7mm/O) - A branch line set in the south west, leaning towards Great Western and loosely based on Helston. Period from 1900-1990.

6) Wiveliscombe (4mm/OO) - It is based on a station in Somerset on the Taunton to Barnstaple line (formerly the Devon & Somerset Railway) which closed in 1966. It was located approx. 10 miles west from Taunton.

7) Hounslow Sidings (4mm/OO) - Based on the Twickenham and Brentford loop from Waterloo Middlesex West London BR Southern Railway. Operated using MERG DCC. All the building are scratch built.

8) Portishead TMD (4mm/OO) - Based on Portishead Railway if it had remained open and developed DB/EWS and DRS Depot to service Portbury and Portishead Docks. Full DCC with sound.

9) Rosebury Goods (4mm/OO) - A fictional yard inspired by the railways Wednesbury in the Black country (aka the Midlands, UK). Portrays operations during the 1985-7 period when Railfreight grey livery was beginning to appear.
