** DAS JAGDSCHLOSS SCHWARZHORN **

Im Stil der Neorenaissance entstand dieses einst prachtvolle Bauwerk zur Jahrtausendwende (1900/01) am Ufer des Scharmützelsee. Der Bauherr Kunz war ein ortsansässiger Komponist und Buchhändler, der das Grundstück 1897 erwarb. Das Jagdschloss wurde von ihm als Residenz sowie Hotel & Restaurant für Touristen genutzt. Zum großen Erfolg trug auch das eigene Pier bei und die damit verbundene gute Erreichbarkeit für Ausflugsdampfer.

Bis Ende des 1.Weltkrieges war das Jagdschloss Schwarzhorn auch ein beliebter Ort für Festlichkeiten von Offizieren aus vielen Berliner Garnisonen. Eine sehr traurige Geschichte, ist die von Max Frank (14.11.1870 - 10.05.1933) . Der wohlhabende Dortmunder Anwalt kaufte sich das Schloss Anfang 1920. Aufgrund seiner jüdischen Herkunft und der Mitgliedschaft in der SPD, war er den Nationalsozialisten schon immer ein Dorn im Auge. 1933 wurde er im Gerichtssaal verhaftet und in der Haft misshandelt, was ihn daraufhin in den Selbstmord trieb.

Bis 1945 lebten im Schloss "volksdeutsche Umsiedler" . In der DDR wurde es genutzt als Schule & Ferienlager und später in ein Alten- und Pflegeheim umgewandelt. 1997 kaufte es der Investor Dieter Holzer, der große Pläne hatte, die aber leider nie in die Tat umgesetzt wurden. Von einem deutsch-dänischen Architektenbüro gab es im Jahre 2000 einen Vorentwurf, in dem es um einen Umbau in ein Kongreßhotel bzw. Tagungszentrum ging.

** THE SCHWARZHORN HUNTING CASTLE **

This once magnificent building was built in the Neo-Renaissance style at the turn of the millennium (1900/01) on the banks of the Scharmützelsee. The client, Kunz, was a local composer and bookseller who purchased the property in 1897. He used the hunting lodge as a residence as well as a hotel and restaurant for tourists. The company's own pier and the associated easy accessibility for excursion boats also contributed to its great success.

Until the end of the First World War, the Schwarzhorn hunting lodge was also a popular place for celebrations by officers from many Berlin garrisons. A very sad story is that of Max Frank (November 14, 1870 - May 10, 1933). The wealthy Dortmund lawyer bought the castle at the beginning of 1920. Due to his Jewish origins and membership in the SPD, he was always a thorn in the side of the National Socialists. In 1933 he was arrested in the courtroom and mistreated in custody, which then drove him to suicide.

“Ethnic German resettlers” lived in the castle until 1945. In the GDR it was used as a school and holiday camp and later converted into a retirement and nursing home. In 1997, investor Dieter Holzer bought it, who had big plans, but unfortunately they were never put into practice. In 2000, a German-Danish architect's office produced a preliminary draft that was about converting the building into a conference hotel or conference center.
