Stihl 461 vs 462 - Sibling Grudge Match!

12/22/18 and a Merry Christ-mas to all.
So we witnessed the comparison between the older bro ms461 and the younger kinsman ms462c-m back in November of '17 -    • A Mid-Week Treat!   Both sporting the same Stihl lw 32" b&c. We viewed them running virtually the same amount of time through the cuts. Both saws brand new and only being run at the factory.
Enter the little brother after a session on the operating table and some time getting the internals "use to each other" here. By my observation the 1st run was ~ 3 seconds quicker and the last was ~ 2.5 or so.
Pretty good showing for the smaller displacement 462 (72.2cc) against the bigger (in every way) 461 (76.5cc).
We also noticed the tach was reading the upper threshold on the 461 with it's limited coil just fine. Whereas, the readings on the 462 with the m-tronic system was completely haywire.
Payton made note of the last 462 run where I applied a considerable amount of pressure the pistol grip that the tach was reading ~ 10k while sawing (we did educate him on the "why" regarding the eradicate tach readings on the 462). It is easy to hear that the rpms are down just a fuzz in the last run. In the other runs when the pressure on the bars was at a minimum, I noticed the tach getting to ~ 13.5 before jumping to 24/26/27k.
Initially I though that the saw would be working more around the 13/13.25K range when it was allowed to feed on it's own and not bumping up against the rev-limiter. Seems, based on the tach readings, that this saw is working right at where the rev limiter kicks in. At this point I am surprised and well pleased that this 462 pulls a longer bar at such a good rpm while in the cut.
An important point to note is that this testing is being done somewhere around 3600'.
