Mechanophysiology of organs for disease classification and diagnosis

Описание к видео Mechanophysiology of organs for disease classification and diagnosis

Mechanophysiology is the study of the mechanics of the functioning (physiology) of organs. Neelesh Patankar, visiting professor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Sciences & Applied Math at Northwestern University, hypothesizes that it should be possible to classify normal and disease groups for organs in a mechanical parameter space and define the “mechanical health” of the organ. In this presentation, he demonstrates a new diagnostic metrics called physiomarkers that can be used to investigate mechanistic underpinnings of pathologies. The work’s ultimate goal is to translate mechanophysiology into clinical practice.
