HOW TO ADD USB-C PORTS TO YOUR COMPUTER

Описание к видео HOW TO ADD USB-C PORTS TO YOUR COMPUTER

How to add USB C ports to your computer with a USB-C PCIe Expansion Card.

The card we are using in the video is a USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) PCI Express 4X card with ASmedia Chipset. There is no power supply needed for this card, it draws all the power from the PCIe slot.

We are using the latest version of Windows 10.

There are other cards out there that will work and may have different features, but the installation will be similar.

*Only perform this upgrade if you are comfortable. We assume no responsibility if you manage to damage your PC.

Go to a qualified PC Repair shop if you don't know what you are doing.

Be certain to UNPLUG your computer before accessing the motherboard.

This is a PCIe x4 card, but can be installed in a PCIe x8 or PCIe x16 slot.

This card was tested with two USB-C Audio Interfaces (Evo 8 & PreSonus 1824c) and performed perfectly.

You may get a Bluescreen error when you first turn on your computer after installing this card. That can happen on some systems when Windows 10 is automatically installing the driver for the USB C card. Simply let the PC boot up again, and everything should be ready to go.

If the driver is not installed automatically, use the driver from the included disc.

To confirm the card and driver are installed correctly, go to:

DEVICE MANAGER (type it in after you hit the Windows Key or go to Control Panel and click it)

Find - Universal Serial Bus controllers, and expand the list

You should see the ASMedia USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller 1.10 (or higher) Microsoft driver.

If you don't see it, or the is an (!) sign next to it, install the driver from the disc.

Windows 10 should automatically install the proper driver for you. If you are using Windows 7 or Windows 8, you will probably need to manually install the driver.

This is an easy upgrade for most people, and expands the life and use of your computer since many devices today are USB-C and don't ship with an adapter.
