Creating a Simple Keyhole Neckline- From Shoulder Seams to Finishing Touches!

Описание к видео Creating a Simple Keyhole Neckline- From Shoulder Seams to Finishing Touches!

Hi Folks, getting your neckline right can be tricky, and there is nothing worse than putting a lot of time and effort into a garment only to find that it just doesn't feel good around the neckline, or the look isn't quite what you wanted.

In this video we will cover sewing together your shoulder seams, if you have them, and then we will focus on getting our simple keyhole neckline cut, hemmed and finished.

We will use the neckline templates we have created (See here-    • Drafting a PERSONALISED Pattern Diagr...   for instructions) to get a comfortable, close fitting, well placed neck hole, and use our measurement charts to calculate how long to make our keyhole slit so it will fit comfortably over your head.

Then we will hem the neckline, paying close attention to pinning it evenly and reinforcing the bottom of the keyhole slit. First we will look at the basic double turned technique on linen, and then we will cover an additional element you can use when working with single turned raw edges.

There are a few options, depending on your fabric and how you plan to close the neckline. Are you going to use a brooch, or do you want to add a tie closure? Do you want both, so you have options later on? We will cover some optional extras you can add to close and reinforce your neckline.

This video is part of my How to make a simple Viking Age Tunic or Dress series, you can find the introduction video here    • INTRODUCTION- Make a SIMPLE Viking Ag...   so you know what to expect and where to find which bits of information! And the full playlist will be here-    • Making a Simple Viking Age Tunic or D...   once it is finished.
