CHRISTCHURCH GONDOLA - Amazing Views of Christchurch, Lyttelton Harbour and Pegasus Bay (4K)

After a great morning at the Christchurch Farmers Market I headed back into the city, quickly went back to my hotel (Novotel) to grab a drink and freshen up, then back out.

One of the great things with the Metro Buses, the ticket is valid for 2hrs, so for my next bus trip to the Gondola Base Station I just needed to hand over the ticket that was purchased for the trip back from the markets.

The bus (8) trip takes around 35 minutes from the city, and arrives and departs at the front door of the Gondola Base Station in the Heathcote Valley.

The Gondola is priced at NZ$42 return, and takes just over 10 minutes to reach the Summit Station.

The views of Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains and Lyttelton Harbour were amazing.

Whilst at the Summit Station I enjoyed a quick meal of Hot Wedges with Sour Cream & Sweet Chilli Sauce, for NZ$13 (Very Tasty...).

Before heading back down I walked down a few levels to the Christchurch Discovery Ride which was included as part of the Gondola Ticket.

The Christchurch Discovery Ride is described as a dramatic reconstruction of the history of the region from millions of years ago to the present day. It is worth doing, and I suspect kids would get more of a kick out of it (trackless dark ride with themed areas, projections and voice overs).

Then back down before jumping on a bus back to the city for some more exploring on foot.
