How to make Mead - Acerglyn - Maple Syrup Mead

How to make Mead - Acerglyn - Maple Syrup Mead. People have been asking pretty much since our very first mead video if they can make mead with maple syrup. The answer is yes, but you still need honey too or it's wine, not mead. When you combine honey with maple syrup in a mead, it's called an Acerglyn. I didn't make it up, no. It's just a type of mead. Some people call it maple mead, or maple syrup mead, or just plain mead! Well, the truth is maple syrup isn't all that great at fermenting and need some help. We're not into additives here so I came up with some natural additives to not only give the yeast something more to work with, but also add more complexity and flavor to the mead.

Ingredients:
1 lb (.45 kg) Maple Syrup
2 lbs (.91 kg) Honey
1/2 packet Lalvin 71B Yeast
A couple of Lime Leaves
2 ounces (56 g) Raisins
Water
